This morning, Aiden & Ryan woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and we dropped them off at their first day of real, official pre-school. It was such a fun morning. One that I won't forget anytime soon. The boys were perfectly behaved and super excited. They even posed for a quick photo shoot on our front stoop. It's as if the universe was telling us that they're going to be a-ok.
Since the boys turn 3 (!!!) in a few weeks, they have officially aged out of Early Intervention, which is how, up until this point, they received all their therapy. In order to continue therapy, which they still need, we applied to the CPSE program which is a preschool program for kids with special needs. This way, they attend preschool five days a week, and all their therapy is condensed into the time they are there. And on top of that, they get the advantage of learning social skills in a classroom setting. Anyone who knows Aiden & Ryan, knows that they are little social butterflies. They love people and they love to interact with their peers, so this is something that we've been looking forward to for a while. Previously, they attended some therapy in a center-based program, but that was only a few hours a week. This is a huge deal for us because this is real school. And this is where they learn to be big boys with no naps. Haha.
In all seriousness though, the school they are attending is an amazing place with tons of equipment for kids like Ryan who don't walk. They have gait trainers and standers available for all who need it. And they have a huge gym in the basement used for PT and OT. This is going to be a great thing for him, and Aiden too.
I guess it's safe to say that summer is officially over. Although I love the summer, I am certainly not that sad to see it go. This is why I love living in NY. Four seasons.
Here are some of our most recent (and last) summer adventures, since I know I've been neglecting this space lately:
Last visit to the beach
Fun at the petting zoo with grandma & grandpa
Birthday party fun
Meeting friends at 7-11
